For a better performance, always use Portable Winch Co. ropes with your winch. Its double-braided construction makes it durable and features low stretch for increased safety. Its low cost and resistance to abrasion make it a good choice for using with our capstan winches, where it is subject to friction and intense heat.

Splices with galvanized steel thimble are available on this rope. They provide protection against wear caused by carabiners, shackles and hooks attached at the end of the rope. In addition, a splice maintains almost 100% of the rope capacity, unlike a knot, which reduces its capacity by at least 30%.

Splices at both ends of the rope also allow it to be flipped over from time to time so it wears out evenly on its entire length.

I've had my portable winch for a while now and have found that it doesn't hurt to have an extra rope or two on hand. I don't know if it was overuse or if my original rope may have come in contact with something that frayed the outer layer and compromised it's pulling power. Regardless of that I really like the overall strength of the polyester ropes.

High Quality, Tough and Durable Rope

We store our 164 foot rope in the blue rope bag provided with the Kit for potential rigging needs. And we store our 328 foot rope on top of the 164, for routine winch use. We have some additional space in the bag and could probably fit most, if not all of a 656 foot rope. All high quality products. Rope is tough and durable. Thanks!

Earning its keep

We have found the winch to be a great new asset. Pulling debris up and around homes to the landing. The 3/8 rope works great for us 320 ft pulls through four blocks to re direct around other trees and obstacles. The cone and chains have helped out a lot also. Have ordered the tree mount but not used it yet. Week is young so I’m sure we will get it out and see how it improves our winching operations. Some job just can’t be done with mini loaders and other heavy equipment. Get yourself a portable winch and make some money with it.

Continued good service

Longer rope to go with the Porablewinch gas powered unit, forestry package. Allows for 3 and 4 to one log pulls. Original rope still serviceable after 5 seasons of pulling firewood logs.
