Also, ohne die Winde wär ich echt hilflos... Ich arbeite meist alleine, da ist sie eine GROSSE Hilfe. Aber letztens hat mich ein Kumpel gefragt ob ich ihm helfen kann .... Sein Minibagger ist umgestürtzt und der Traktor hat das Ding nicht aufbekommen.... Die Räder des Traktors haben durchgedreht... Also meine PCW1000 mit Umlenkrolle an der Last aufgebaut....und gegen den leichten Hang aufgezogen!!!Zuerst wurde ich schräg angesehen mit meinem "Spielzeug" .Danach waren alle Beteiligten komplett aus dem Häuschen!! This winch has been one of our best purchases for starting our homestead. Able to set up anywhere you can walk and get logs to a skid trail. Helped taking down hung up trees, pulling out 5th wheel trailer up a muddy hill. With the nose cone logs don't get hung up. Using pulleys we were able to move far bigger logs than I would have thought possible. Recommend using the higher rated pulleys and carabiners if testing how much the winch can pull.
I did have to replace the original plastics PCS with the upgraded metal one as I wasn't paying close enough attention and allowed a tangled rope to break it. With the amount of use we have gotten and looking forward to many more years.

As an arborist working in remote regions, the PCW 4000 has been a reliable workhorse for me for over two years. It has been an absolute game-changer. Capable of getting some real nasty trees down with no fear of hang-ups and saving my back by rigging moving brush and logs across properties.

I have used the anti-rollback device with confidence for particularly tricky jobs, such as one massive oak tree that was leaning heavily on top of a cabin. Climbed up 20 ft put a rigging line in the oak tree and with the PCW 4000 set up, I left a huge hinge in the trunk and pulled it away from destroying the cabin. The anti-rollback device made sure the winch did not slide back while I was making progress, providing me with greater control and ensuring a safe outcome.

I was able to lot clear and neatly stack all the logs on a water access property. After each tree was felled, the winch made it simple to drag the logs to a safe location and stack them in a neat and organized manner.

Overall, I highly recommend the PCW 4000 portable winch with its anti-rollback device to anyone in the arborist industry or anyone who needs a reliable and powerful winch for their work. It's portable, easy to use, incredibly powerful, and the anti-rollback device provides an extra layer of control and safety during particularly challenging jobs. Researched the market and bought a PCW4000 Off Road Kit from Portable Winch Company in Canada. Also bought several Portable Winch Company accessories. Very nice people to work with! Our first rescue mission; haul my M8 Arctic Cat from a steep Sierra Nevada mountainside, 100 ft down from a groomed snowmobile trail, 3-1/2 miles from road vehicle access. Don't ask how the M8 got down the mountainside all by itself, with no rider, must have a mind of its own, somehow missing all the big trees. Luckily, it wasn't damaged, caught on a small pine tree. The Portable Winch PCW4000 worked fantastic! Our planned rescue mission went better and faster than we envisioned. Was easy to learn how to use the PCW4000, added crankcase oil & gas, fired right up, did a test run at home pulling my ATV. Had four people for precaution and safety, job done! The PCW4000 centrifugal clutch, rope-holding anti-reverse mechanism, and auto-throttle are well-designed, strong, and work fantastic. Those features added greatly to the overall success of our mission and safe load control. Was easy to safely and reliably stop pulling, check with our team members, and resume the pull. Impressive capability, ease of use and cost for skidding trees. So far reliability has been excellent.

I debated for months about what winch to buy to help move logs around on my property. I decided to go with the portable capstan design and I have no regrets. My tractor is still available without a 3 point hitch based winch and the portability allows me to get anywhere. It can’t pull much above 18” diameter & 9’ long without multiple pulleys, so you have to strategic in setting them up so they don’t crisscross

Fonctionne très bien pour tirer des arbres abattus. Bien pensé pour le système de retenu.

I pulled a 2.5 foot by 25 foot green spruce out of the bush. I had to use a pulley but it managed it.

Great item wish I had bought one years ago

The winch works well, though the engine seems like it knocks on occasion even running 90 octane ethanol free gas. The only issue is the capture cleats (the reason I bought this model), the springs that hold them closed break. The little hooked end will shear off. I’ve bent a new hook and all worked again for a little while. Need stronger ones, like for sail boats lines.

The little Honda engine is great, so easy to crank and runs smooth. I have used the winch to pull lots of logs through the woods for firewood, including one oak that was 18 inches in diameter and 20 feet long! (I did double up with the pulley to get it into the road- amazing!) A couple of hints - tension your rope and then take handfuls of dirt and rub your rope - get that rope dirty to it grips. Second, make sure your rope runs through any pulleys smoothly (I pinched mine and cut it). Third, don't pull the rope so hard that you bog the engine while pulling a heavy load - slack up and let the rope slip a little so the rpm's stay up, the winch will do the work. Finally, the spring returns on my rope "grippers" just died but they still work OK by gravity - but still 5 stars. Great product! I call the foresry kit the "redneck fun bucket!"

I have not been able to get the full 2000 lbs force claimed. We tried pulling a 1000 lb log with the skidding cone. Was not able to stall winch. Will try 4 turns in stead of 3 and sanded capstan drum. Will try again.

Stumbled upon this wench watching YouTube videos. Never seen them before. Watched all the videos and did my online research. Decided to give it a try. No regrets at all. I’ve been clearing a couple of lots and taking down some 80’ to 100’ trees. This wench is great for directional felling and skidding logs. Makes my life a whole lot easier. The shipping was the fastest I’ve ever experienced. From the online order to receipt was 22 hours. Amazing

What can I say besides that it works exactly as represented. The recommendation to scuff the capstan with fine sandpaper is right on - it works much better after doing that and breaking in the rope.

I needed a tool to get heavy logs out of the brush to a point where I could work on them. I almost bought a tractor and a forestry winch but finally decided that was too much for an old guy like me. I researched this winch and it looked like a better answer for me. I've heard of others' use of this winch and when I saw that I could get everything I needed at one place, I was sold. Now, having put it to use, I was very pleased with how it moved the big log I wanted out of the brush. Beyond that, I am impressed with the quality of all the parts except for one small quible: the hole in the skid cone was too small for the gear to go through it, so I had to ream it out a bit. I found that the Honda engine starts and runs fine once I turn the kill switch to ON. My bad! In total, I am very satisfied, no, very happy with this winch and all the accessories. It will allow me to get the work done that I couldn't complete before!
